Thallos of Brighton Manor – Goldwork and Embroidery Peacock Pouch

Name: Thallos of Brighton Manor
Wiki: https://wiki.eastkingdom.org/wiki/Thallos_of_Brighton_Manor

I chose a peacock because a SCAdian, who was a relative stranger to me, showed me an amazing kindness. She likes peacocks and I had wanted to do something nice for her.

When I was sick last summer I stumbled upon Sarah Homfrey’s goldwork YouTube channel and the idea to do the peacock using goldwork was born. It’s been in process since then (summer of 2023) and I finally finished it at Panteria (2024).

I used a prick and pounce method to transfer the design to fabric. I used silk thread for the embroidery and to couch the gold down. The gold is wire and embroidery thread. The blue fabric is linen. The white is cotton. The back was very messy so I turned it into a pouch while I was at Panteria. I made a fingerloop braid cord so the pouch can cinch closed.

I made a quick site to show the process (and another project too):
