After being accepted as an Apprentice during the plague by Margreþa La Fauvelle, there was the question of what to do for a belt, as my Maestra is vastly talented in music but less so in fiber arts. Having been planning to try my hand at rigid heddle weaving, I volunteered to make my own belt.
I finished weaving in late August and dyed the belt a solid green. The next step is embroidering the belt in a lighter pistachio green. I may or may not be able to do this by Yule, but I have worn the belt as-in for two events since Quest.
The photo shows the finished belt and my Apprentice contract. The video shows the belt in process, with the bonus of the music being my own, playing “Tourdion” on citole.
I am planning to do another belt this winter, another experiment, hopefully mastering the tensioning problems I experienced in the beginning of the weave.
