The MOAS office is pleased to announce that we will be holding an online Laurels’ Challenge & Exhibition, Saturday May 22nd -Sunday May 30th.
This event will contain multiple ways to share and/or improve your art, including challenges set by laurels to receive their support & feedback, open arts hours where you can drop in to ask questions about specific craft forms, consultations through the MOAS office for receiving the types of feedback you are looking for, and more! Many challenges will be open to existing projects – no need to create something new if that is not an option!
If you are a Laurel and are interested in sponsoring a challenge please sign up at https://forms.gle/rDeNmKfV3jTQqGkS8 by end of day March 1st, contact firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions (challenges received past Monday night will be added to the website, but may miss entrants who register Tuesday afternoon). If you have sponsored a challenge in the past you are welcome to offer it again, or create something new. There will also be a Laurel Display – a way to introduce yourself to newer artisans with an online bio and sharing something you have created, old or new.
We are also looking for laurel & peer challenges, co-sponsored by a laurel and someone with a non-laurel peerage, to help introduce artisans to other peers and connect the community.
This is an online-only event. Artisans will have a personal page created for their work to allow it to be seen and for people to leave comments, and meetings with the sponsoring laurels will be scheduled to work around people’s availability.
All entrants will be included in a Grand Exhibition, which will showcase display projects from the challenges (there will be a “show your art” challenge for anyone looking to simply display/for those who don’t fit into other challenges).
We will also have a Youth Challenge, to support and showcase the amazing art created by our younger artisans.
Sign ups for the challenges will be opened next month, once the challenges have been set.
We look forward to creating a space for artisans to connect with people in their field and showcase their wonderful art!
